Scalp Micropigmentation

SMP - Scalp Micropigmentation Hair Loss Solution

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) - Semi-permanent dermal pigmentation is one of the treatments offered at TrichoSynergy Hair Clinic London. Scalp micropigmentation is designed to look like real hair and is an effective visible solution for many hair loss conditions.

 What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp micropigmentation, sometimes referred to as Scalp Tattoo is a process that creates the appearance of hair on the scalp, where hair has been lost either through trauma, scarring or male pattern baldness. This process is also suitable for replacing and enhancing eyebrows, but is not traditional tattooing.

Benefits of Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp micropigmentation is a treatment designed to provide a natural hair simulation solution for men and women alike. SMP is an effective hair loss solution for cases of chronic alopecia areata, male pattern baldness and scarring scalp conditions.

Scalp micropigmentation can also be used to enhance hair transplants requiring more density, giving your hair a fuller look and relieve the frustrating effects of hair loss.

What happens during SMP treatment?

Our London treatment rooms are private and comfortable. During your SMP treatment your scalp will be assessed and cleaned thoroughly. Once your scalp has been prepared, the area that will be treated will then be marked out. When the perfect style outline had been achieved we are ready to prepare the pigment for implantation.

The selected pigment will be mixed and the dermograph (trichopigmentation machine) set for implantation.

Throughout the procedure you will be laying down and completely relaxed. The treatment lasts from two to six hours depending upon the area and density required. As each section is completed the area will be cleaned. This process is repeated until the desired look has been achieved. When the design has been completed, the scalp is set.

This process is repeated until the desired look has been achieved. The results are immediately visible and downtime is minimal. Three treatments are required to complete the shaved look process.

Is SMP Safe?

SMP is a completely safe procedure. London based consultant trichologist Victoria Elliott is a trained and qualified SMP technician.

Before starting the treatment sensitivity patch tests are carried out to ensure the patient is comfortable and that there are no adverse reactions to the pigment.

TrichoSynergy uses the latest equipment specifically designed for the scalp, so the depth of the pigment only reaches 0.5mm into the epidermis.

All pigments used are regulated, approved and comply with EU Council standards 2003.

How long do the effects last?

SMP is not a tattoo and is therefore not permanent and will not change in colour nor blur.. The pigment is absorbed by the immune system over a period of two years, so the follicles will begin to fade after six months' or so.

In order to keep the results looking fresh, we therefore recommend returning for a 'top up' procedure to restore the follicle simulation to its original density ( as required).
