What is Laser Therapy - LLLT?

This type of hair loss treatment works by increasing blood flow to the scalp and hair follicles. LLLT hair treatments increase levels of nutrients and oxygen being fed to the hair roots.

Benefits of Laser Therapy - LLLT

Laser Therapy hair treatment is safe, non invasive and an ideal solution for both male and female hair loss and balding.

Studies show that at least 50% of menopausal women experience hair loss, with over 75% of post-menopausal women suffering with thinning and some balding. There is no prescription required and no side-effects have been reported.

What happens during treatment?

After an initial consultation with Trichologist Victoria Elliott you will be treated in a relaxing and comfortable environment at the Clinic.

A lightweight helmet will be placed on the head for 20 minutes, whilst you sit comfortably, reading if preferred.

The treatment is pain free as the diodes are state-of-the-art lasers, which penetrate deeply into the hair follicle, but do not emit heat. You will have one treatment per week for three months initially. We will assess your level of improvement and then decide on how to commence.

"I often recommend patients purchasing their own laser cap from me to use at home and increasing use to (the preferred treatment level) which is twice weekly.

It is also very cost effective, clinical studies show significant, lasting improvements to hair growth and quality when treatment extends to at least nine months."

Is it safe?

The effectiveness and safety of low level laser therapy was published in the International Journal of Trichology in April 2014. An article entitled "Use of Low Level Laser Therapy as Monotherapy or Concomitant Therapy for Male and Female Androgenetic Alopecia" by A. Munck, M F Gavazzoni, R Trueb.

The study set out to establish whether LLLT worked in terms of halting hair loss and achieving hair growth either with Minoxodil or Finasteride, and alone without either topical or/and oral anti androgens.

The trial of 32 people ran for a period of nine months and the conclusions were as follows:

885 of all patients showed significant improvement
100% of patients showed a significant improvement when the Laser was used alone
Improvement was seen as early as three months
Observations continued for 24 months and improvements were maintained
No adverse reactions were reported.
